Day 28: Back on track
I got a late start, literally, to my long run this weekend. Not only did I shift it to Sunday instead of Saturday because of plans in the East Bay, but I also didn’t make it out to the park until well after noon today. Luckily, it wasn’t too hot because of the wind; it was a pretty, sunny day.
I had been hesitant about today’s run because for one thing, Peattie wasn’t along for the ride run because he was working (and maybe — shh — watching the Giants game). I was also just slightly thrown off by the change in schedule, plus my last week of pain has made me a little gun-shy. But it worked out. I’d decided to run the same route as last weekend (five miles) because of the aforementioned week of pain, but ended up pushing myself a little more. I didn’t stop to walk up the hill to Stow Lake, and I did that awkward runner’s hop at the rare stoplights. In fact, I ran at what I could tell was a really steady pace, even when I was going up hills. It was a slow pace but a steady one, which I guess is good? I also went a bit farther along the lake so I ended up running more like 5.5 miles — making today’s run now the farthest I’ve ever run. So that’s cool, and I’m feeling re-energized about training. Also, I found out via text message that my friend Bethany might be running the full SF marathon, which is exciting! Not that I’ll see her during the race, of course, but, you know, we can carbo-load together or something.
Summary
- 5.61 miles (route)
- 59:50 minutes
